LAMP & AMIT

Overview of collaboration Shared marketing LAMPgroup chapter under AMIT umbrella

My goal would be to create a community for local (Tucson or even Phoenix) LAMP developers and other open source advocates to share best practices and promote the understanding and adoption of LAMP solutions.

The people involved would likely be drawn from several communities:

  • Private employers like Raytheon, Misys, etc.
  • Public employers like Pima County, City of Tucson, DM, State of AZ, TUSD, etc.
  • Students, staff and faculty at the U of A, Pima College, U of Phoenix, ITT, etc.
  • Independent developers, business leaders, and LAMP hobbyists.

The "community" will likely take two forms:The LAMPGroup.org website, a listserv and regular monthly meetings.

Through partners and sponsors, AMIT is typically able to provide for free meeting locations with professional meeting facilities including AV equipment. AMIT can also provide event promotion and cross-promotion efforts by way of our email list, our established relationship with other industry clusters and Pima College as well as our expanding relationships with the University of Arizona, TUSD, University of Phoenix, the City of Tucson, Pima County and other groups. We would also be willing to sponsor a few months worth of subscriptions to MeetUp in order to reach out to that community of potential participants if it seemed worthwhile.

Partnership opportunities with other already existing groups might make sense as well, including TFUG and various U of A groups.
